Primas Law supports NHS employees through pandemic with free advice

The line was launched to help alleviate some additional stresses on the NHS and to thank healthcare staff for their work during the pandemic

At the start of the pandemic in 2020, Primas launched a new freephone number to provide free legal advice for NHS employees.

The line, which has been operational since June 2020, was launched to help alleviate some additional stresses on the NHS and to thank healthcare staff for their work during the pandemic. It was originally planned to be operational for 12 months, but was extended as the pandemic continued to make an impact.

As a result, the Primas team dealt with 145 individual cases across a range of Primas departments including litigation, employment and real estate.

Managing Partner, Adam Kerr, said: “After speaking to a couple of my friends who were working on the frontline in the NHS, and running the idea of free legal advice by them, we were confident that the service would be a small help to those who were giving so much to the rest of us.

“At Primas, we always aim to give back in any we can through fundraising activities, but lockdowns meant that our usual activities were restricted, so this was our way of doing what we could in the meantime.

“We are all really pleased that the service was so well used. We hope that the service conveyed our gratitude to those who worked so hard and gave so much to help the rest of us.

Recently, we have noticed a decline in the use of the service and so now feels like the right time to bring it to a close. However, if any frontline NHS staff were planning on using the advice line, they should feel free to contact us directly and we will continue to do our best to help out.”
